About CT Scan
A CT scan is a type of specialised X-ray which provides more detailed information. While a standard X-ray takes a single 2D image, a CT scanner rotates around the body, taking multiple images producing a 3D cross-sectional superior view of bones, blood vessels and soft tissue. While X-Ray focuses mainly on broken bones, a CT scan provides information on internal organs, tumours, bones and blood vessels.

How to Prepare
- 1You may be asked to fast for 4 hours if contrast dye is required
- 2Inform staff of any kidney problems or allergies to contrast
- 3Remove metal objects and wear loose clothing
- 4Scans typically take 10–30 minutes
- 5Bring any previous imaging for comparison
