Associate Professor Julian Maingard is a specialist in Diagnostic Neuroradiology, Interventional Radiology and Neurointervention, with expertise spanning advanced diagnostic imaging, minimally invasive image-guided interventions and complex neurovascular procedures. He practises across two of Victoria's leading tertiary neurosciences centres—Austin Health and St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne—where he contributes to the diagnosis and treatment of some of the state's most complex neurological, neurovascular and head and neck conditions.

He is the Clinical Lead for the Endovascular Clot Retrieval Service at Austin Hospital, leading the multidisciplinary service responsible for the emergency endovascular treatment of acute ischaemic stroke. He is also the Clinical Director of Neurointervention Specialists Victoria, a specialist practice providing advanced neurovascular care and minimally invasive image-guided treatments across Victoria.

A/Prof Maingard has broad expertise across diagnostic radiology, with particular interests in diagnostic neuroradiology, head and neck imaging, emergency imaging and complex image-guided pain procedures. His interventional practice encompasses advanced neurovascular procedures, cerebral angiography, endovascular stroke treatment and complex CT- and fluoroscopy-guided spinal and pain interventions.

Alongside his clinical practice, A/Prof Maingard maintains a strong academic, research and teaching profile. He holds a clinical academic appointment as Associate Professor within the School of Medicine at Deakin University. His academic work is closely integrated with his tertiary hospital practice and focuses on advancing neurovascular imaging, endovascular treatment, interventional radiology and patient outcomes. He is actively involved in clinical research, specialist education, registrar training and the supervision and mentorship of emerging clinicians and researchers.

Working within the high-volume tertiary referral environments of Austin Health and St Vincent's Hospital has given A/Prof Maingard extensive experience in complex and time-critical clinical presentations. This tertiary work has developed a combination of diagnostic precision, procedural expertise and multidisciplinary clinical judgement across both diagnostic and interventional radiology.

Through his work with InOne Imaging Bacchus Marsh, A/Prof Maingard brings this tertiary-level expertise directly to the local community. Patients and referring clinicians can benefit from subspecialist interpretation of brain, spine, head and neck and emergency imaging, together with access to experienced image-guided interventional and pain-management services.

His aim is to provide the Bacchus Marsh community with timely, accurate and clinically relevant imaging care supported by the standards, experience and expertise of major metropolitan teaching hospitals, while maintaining a local, accessible and patient-centred service.
